Ministry Involvement

Compa – A weekly food bank for church and non-church members who are unemployed, underemployed, seniors, single parents, and other emergency needs.  Through its food bank, Agape seeks to give Christian witness to all who come. 

Community Outreach Service Center – Provides a variety of community-oriented programs to the Curtis Park/Five Points area.  These innovative programs confront social problems identified by the community.  High priority concerns are employment issues, counseling, youth and family dynamics, alcohol and drug abuse, education, and spiritual values. Click here for more info.

Charity’s House Ministries – Provides resident aftercare for 6 men within the community.  Charity’s House ministers to the needs of the men who might have alcohol/drug issues, family issues, or issues with the criminal justice system.  Employment, training, and counseling conducted in an intensive manner assist the resident to succeed in his personal, family, and career development.  Bible studies, church attendance, and group therapy are mandatory.  Click here to go to their website.

The Sky’s the Limit Summer Day Camp – This camp, for ages 8-14, offers Christian club activities, Bible studies, sports, and recreation.  The young people are picked up each morning at 9 am and brought back at 4 pm.  The camp also provides an opportunity for teenagers, 14-18, to counsel with the younger kids and to be leaders.  Camp meets June through August. 

Community Kitchen – A thriving Saturday outreach program that serves around 200 people a hot, home-cooked, sit-down meal each week. 

Young People’s Bible Club – Wed. 7:00 pm.  Devotional Bible classes.  Fun and games for the children from ages 10-16 years old. 

Teen Worship – Fridays 7:30 pm. 

Genesis Jobs – Six inner-city ministries participate in Genesis, a job preparatory, referral, and placement service.  The churches are training and contact points for the unemployed.  Prospective employees participate in three two-hour sessions of training in such areas as: phone skills, interviewing, resume writing, completing applications, and personal appearance. 

Christian Brotherhood – A men’s fellowship group; training for leadership and service within the church and in the world. 

Inner-City Christian School – A ministry to educate pre-school and elementary age children in morals and Christian values.  Trains community people to work in educational and extended child-care centers. 

Agape Bible Club – An alternative Sunday School and V.B.S.  Includes Bible classes, crafts, field trips, and self-esteem building. 

Youth Leadership Tutorial – Tutors for those who wish to learn to read or take the G.E.D.  Also, homework assistance for elementary through high school. 

Women’s Prayer Fellowship – This group meets monthly at urban and suburban churches to lift different concerns before the Lord.  This group includes Anglos, African Americans, and Hispanics.
